We who call ourselves Prospect Congregational UCC are first of all a faith community. Our weekly worship expresses our primary desire to join together as persons seeking to discover and grow, both in our personal faith journeys and as a community. Our diversity in our individual roots and reasons suggests our faith as one concerned more with questions rather than simple answers. As a thinking and celebrating congregation, we are glad to declare ourselves as an open and progressive people.
As part of the United Church of Christ (UCC) Protestant denomination, we draw upon a history which encourages freedom of conscience and relationships of covenant - mutual agreement - with others. Rather than adhere to strict doctrine, a central UCC tenet states that there is "yet more light and truth" to break forth from God's word and work in our midst. Prospect Church has a working covenant; the UCC has its own statement of faith that uses verbs to describe God's ongoing activity of creating, calling, and bestowing.
